Sea isn’t the only thing found on our island. Some tall mountains -the Lefka Ori- at its centre offer a unique place where we can admire the geomorphology and rock formations. Here is proof that all things move as was insightfully put by Heraklitos! Even this that is most solidly set beneath our feet. Through an excursion to the refuge of Kallergi, above the Omalos plateau, 36 kilometers from Chania, we will learn by playing, how the culture of the mountain people has evolved, how this island was formed and how to love even its most untamed places. How can we survive at 2.000 meters?
Often, during summer, kids are only satisfied when at sea, in the beach and under the sun. Apart from simple nature-oriented activities, we propose getting to know the land and its history, because no beach is like another and no tree is the same as the rest. We can fully appreciate where we are only when walking and playing with the environment that surrounds us. This way we understand the meaning and importance of the diversity and biodiversity of our planet. Educational activities in nature to discover Crete’s rich cultural and environmental history for our young friends!
