"Crete South West"

We were very happy reading the review of our book, "Crete South West", in the magazine "Κρήτη" ("Crete") of the Pancretan Association of America.

If your travel plans include a hiking trip the next time you’re in Crete, pick up the latest guidebook called “Crete, South West.” Published by travel content provider onFoot.gr, the guidebook provides detailed maps and information on the hiking trails of southwest Crete: Samaria Gorge, Agia Roumeli, Omalos, Agios Pavlos, Sfakia, Aradena Gorge, Agios Ioannis, Anopoli and Loutro. The book also includes information on where to eat, sleep and places of interest to visit during your hike.

As noted in the book’s introduction: “Crete is a land of heroes. No location has been left untouched by the battles and adventures of its people in their struggle to keep their freedom and independence. One could assume that the wildness of the scenery and the isolation of the island is the main cause of the tough and proud manners of the locals.

Crete is a place of magic. The hardened fighters are at the same time some of the most hospitable people you are bound to come across on this planet. This is but one of the many mysteries of the enchanted place called Crete, birthplace of kings and gods. Crete is a place of beauty. Medical and aromatic plants that work wonders, birds and animals that can only be seen here, sea and sand that make you think of utopia.

This could be the child of a marriage between Europe and Africa in the place where the African tectonic plate is being swept under the Aegean Sea Plate. This mosaic of history, mythology, gallantry and natural beauty is a challenge that you can’t resist walking through. This guide is intended to provide you with a stepping stone that we hope will offer you a quality vacation and a better glimpse of this place, its history and people. Make the first step and don’t stop. It is a never-ending journey.”
